A hold over from shooting and cleaning long range rifles is my use of a bore guide. These fit in the upper receiver and keep your cleaning rod aligned with the bore so the rod doesn't scrape the inside of your barrel. While chrome lined bores might not care, stainless barrels can be scratched without the use of a bore guide. This is a Bore Tech guide fits AR15 firearms in 5.56/.223 caliber.
