The word "Reload" is misleading. I prefer to think of the long range precision rifle cartridges most of us make as "Handloads." Most of you do everything within your power to get the most accurate and consistent loads available.
One of the things I have always wondered about was the cleaning of cases. Sure, I use a vibrating cleaner with corn cob media and an additive but the inside of the necks never look clean. I have tried brushing but that doesn't seem to clean them either. Then there is the consistency issue. If the inside of the neck and case is caked with carbon, how can it be loaded the same?
For many years I have used ultra sonic cleaners to clean law enforcement firearms. They have proven very reliable. Most firearms can be cleaned inside and out in short order and then ultra sonically lubricated. Well why couldn't this be done with brass cases?
Testing proved ultra sonic cleaning works. A .338 Lapua magnum rifle that is owned by a team member, had seemed to come to the end of it's accuracy days. The brass that was used had been loaded numerous times over the last several years. The brass was cleaned in the ultra sonic cleaner and the inside of the cases looked brand new. When loaded and fired, it was found that the accuracy of this rifle returned.
Take a look at the photo. This case is a once fired 50 BMG case. This is what it looks like before and after cleaning. Harbour Arms is now using a military grade L & R ultra sonic cleaner to clean brass. Ultra sonic cleaning is $0.15 cents per case. Please call to find out how to ship your cases for this new process.
